With a wealth of global hotel management experience, the executive team of Marco Polo Hotels is led by
Steve Kleinschmidt, President. With over 20 years of senior industry experience, Mr. Kleinschmidt has advised many of the world’s leading hotel companies and travel organizations throughout the Asia/Pacific region, North America and the Caribbean. Mr. Kleinschmidt joined Marco Polo Hotels in October 2007 from his previous role as Director of the Hospitality and Leisure Advisory Services Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Canada. He is very familiar with Asia having worked in Hong Kong from 1992-1999 as Managing Director and CEO Asia Pacific for PKF Consulting Limited with responsibility for 18 countries across the Asia region. Mr. Kleinschmidt is a past Advisory Board member for the University of Victoria’s Hospitality Management Program in the Faculty of Business and a Senior Lecturer for the University of Salzburg’s Executive MBA in Tourism & Leisure Management.
Vice President Project Development Ting Wah oversees new and existing hotel design, construction, technical operations, and capital improvement programs. Mr. Ting Wah is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Building in the United Kingdom and The Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, a member of The Australian Institute of Building and The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom). He holds a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Design and Management from The University of Hong Kong. Mr. Ting Wah joined the Group's parent company Wharf Holdings Limited in 1983 and has been with the Marco Polo Hotels since 1987.
Vice President Sales & Marketing Simon Pearson takes the lead in developing marketing strategy and initiatives for Marco Polo Hotels. Mr. Pearson is a graduate of the Brighton Hotel School in the U.K., and has an impressive background in Sales and Marketing having worked with such prestigious organizations as Hyatt International, Hilton International, Intercontinental Hotels and The Peninsula Group. His international experience includes assignments in Khartoum, London, Singapore, Sydney, Cairo, Broome, and Hong Kong. He joined Marco Polo Hotels in June 2007.
Responsible for Marco Polo's group finance, trademark, legal and contract issues,
Group Financial Controller Chris Chan holds a Master of Science degree in E-Commerce from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong and a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from the University of Sheffield, Britain; and is a Certified Public Accountant in both the United Sates and Hong Kong. Mr. Chan has a wealth of experience with international companies such as Hyatt and American Express organizations.
