Marco Polo Xiamen presented the longest Napoleon Cake ever made in Xiamen last weekend. The 30-metre-long cake was cut into 3,500 pieces and sold to the lucky guests. Within just one and a half hours, the hotel completely sold out of every piece.
The Napoleon cake is the signature dessert of the hotel and dubbed most popular pastry treat in Xiamen by local foodies. It is remarkably light, airy and layered with walnut meringue, yielding a crunchy texture and mildly sweet flavour.
March 12th is Chinese National Arbor Day, or Tree Planting Day. A portion of the proceeds generated from the sales of the Napoleon cake was donated to the tree planting activity of Xiamen Forestry Bureau.
