JIMEI VILLAGE: MINNAN-STYLE ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE

The comprehensive complex that integrates school and cultural education was founded in 1913 by Mr Tan Kah Kee with his personal funds. It has been listed among the ‘First Heritage Architecture Projects of the 20th Century in China’ and is highly regarded. The academic village is dotted with Kah Kee-style buildings characterised by the unique Western-style structures crowned with traditional Chinese roofs, alongside well-preserved traditional Minnan dwellings. The architectural ensemble blends Chinese and Western elements, serving as a representative example of the architectural style in the Minnan overseas Chinese hometown.
